Written by John Van Druten, this romantic comedy centres on a witch, Gillian, her magical family and the mortals they live amongst. An ancient legend says that witches cannot fall in love and, if they do, they will lose all their powers. Gillian longs for a more normal life, but when she meets Tony she has to decide whether to sacrifice her magical powers for mortal love. 

​The play was perhaps one of the first of its genre, introducing us to a world of magic and witchery. The creator of ’Betwitched’, Sol Saks, admitted that he drew inspiration from it and its influence continues to echo.​
