Elyot and Amanda, once married, find themselves honeymooning with their new spouses not only at the same hotel, but in adjoining rooms. Always having had a stormy relationship, seeing each other again reignites the old spark, and they impulsively decide that perhaps divorcing was a mistake. Only days after reuniting and they again find their fiery romance alternating between passions of love and anger. Meanwhile their aggrieved spouses have joined forces to track them down and, on finding them together, attempt to negotiate an outcome that will suit everyone.
