Review of 2016 Season

We had a tremendously successful year in 2016. We opened with the bitter sweet comedy, “And a Nightingale Sang” and followed it with the premiere of “Behind Every Hero”, local poet Paul Mein’s cycle of poems inspired by Greek myth and legend. Both productions were ambitious and challenging but well worth the hard work, resulting in atmospheric and magical performances.
We managed to fit in a community event, writing and staging a witch trial as part of the Southwell Burgage Through the Ages day in September, despite being thoroughly immersed in rehearsals for our most ambitious project to date ~ Harold Pinter’s “The Birthday Party”. And what a success that was! Director Liz Atkin and the cast did an amazing job; it was hard to believe it was an amateur production.
We closed the year with one of our popular murder mysteries, "Death on the Menu", which really kept our audiences guessing whodunnit.
