Busy Year for Southwell Theatre Club

Press Release:

25 June 2018

Busy Year for Southwell Theatre Club

Southwell Theatre Club's year began with a successful run of the David Storey play 'Home'.  There was very positive audience feedback for what was a challenging play to produce. That was followed in May by an Open Evening, at which several new members signed up, raising membership to around twenty.  At the recent, and very successful, Southwell Fun Day, the club resurrected their Story Tent to read a range of children’s stories to the youngsters gathered on beanbags and blankets. A highlight in the Story Tent was a visit from Farnsfield children's author, Simon Jamie, who read two of his own stories.

The club’s next offering will be an evening of poetry and prose commemorating the centenary of Women's Suffrage and the end of WW1. 'Poetry, Pimms and Puddings’, is to be held on the evening of Friday 27th July, in a private garden in the town. The audience are invited to bring a picnic and relax on the beautiful lawns. Tickets at £5 are available now from Southwell Library, tel 01636 812148 or email southwelltheatreclub@gmail.com

Autumn mists will bring the Victorian melodrama ‘The Late Edwina Black’, followed by a murder mystery in winter for the audience to solve, ‘Murder at Cliff House’.

Southwell Theatre Club have been entertaining Southwell and surrounds since the 1970's. New members are always welcome either on stage or backstage. Email for details.
