Two sisters, Annabel and Miriam, are brought together after many years apart following the death of their father. The elder sister, Annabel, returns to the family home to find that she has inherited the estate - despite her younger sister Miriam having spent years caring for their father in his final years. Whilst Annabel was able to build a life for herself, away from their father's influence, it becomes clear that Miriam never had this chance. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Miriam has never really forgiven Annabel for leaving. The result is a reunion, charged with old memories, anger and untold secrets.

Add Alice, their father's nurse into the mix and you have a twisting tale telling of past hurts, secrets and even blackmail.

Snake in the Grass has hints of thriller, but it is also a typical Ayckbourn with its comedic undertones.
