Tickets now on sale for "Snake in the Grass"

A new season, a new production, and Southwell Theatre Club’s spring play is to be Sir Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘Snake in the Grass’. Taking place at Southwell Library from Thursday 18th to Saturday 20th May, the story revolves around two sisters who are reunited following the death of their father. The elder sister, Annabel, returns from abroad to find she is the beneficiary of his will, much to the annoyance of her sister, Miriam, who has cared for him for years. Hurling a dollop of intrigue into the pot is Alice, his former nurse, who on meeting Annabel starts throwing accusations around like confetti. ‘Snake in the Grass’ is not in Ayckbourn’s normal style but he deftly brings his comedic lightness of touch to an otherwise challenging story in which ghosts and spectres of the past return. The question is, are the ghosts all from the past?

It’s always great to welcome new people into the club and in ‘Snake in the Grass’ we introduce three newcomers to the group. It’s a real positive that they have been able to get involved in a show right from the off, and they have each taken to their role with great enthusiasm. There are some technical challenges in this one but, as always, we are rising to them and are confident of bringing another entertaining show to life.

‘Snake in the Grass’ directed by Richard O’Malia, runs from 18th-20th May, at Southwell Library, King Street, Southwell. The show starts at 7:30pm, door and bar open at 7pm. Tickets £10 each, available now from Southwell Library or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/southwelltheatreclub. Enquiries to southwelltheatreclub@gmail.com
