"Robin Hoodie" comes to Southwell
Press Release:
30 October 2023
With hardly a pause for breath after the October show, Southwell Theatre Club has headed straight into rehearsals for our popular winter murder mystery. We and, we hope, our audiences had such fun with the panto-style last year, that we’re visiting panto-land again for this year’s mystery - ‘Robin Hoodie & his Merry People’ - which will be taking place at Southwell Library on 9th and 10th December. As is usual for one of our murder mysteries the audience will have their chance to turn detective, interrogating the suspects to try and work out who the murderer is.
This year, the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham has a big problem. So successful have Robin Hoodie and his trusted band been in robbing the rich to give to the poor, there are no poor anymore! Aided by the treacherous Prioress of Kirklees, the Sheriff hatches a plan to trap his traditional annoying enemy. Meanwhile the outlaws squabble, struggling to adapt to their new life of leisure. Alan a-dale the resident minstrel organises snail races, Friar Tuckin dreams of his next meal, Robin is ensuring his pantomime horse is kept off the menu, and Mad Marion is bossing them all about. Throw in Pitkin an innumerate peasant, and Sylvie an invisible forest sprite, and you have the recipe for mayhem and murder!
